The 116-square-foot Collingwood is the largest and best finished model in Güte’s line of shepherd huts. The extensively customizable huts are built in Maxwell, Ontario, on top of handcrafted wooden wagons with cast iron wheels. That makes them impracticable for highway use, but they’re certainly amenable to local repositioning after they’re delivered to the buyer. The Collingwood is nicely done in pine and oak, with western red cedar shake siding on the ends and a galvanized steel roof above. It’s also fully insulated and has four thermal paned windows, three of which open. There are bunk beds at one end and the dining booth at the other also converts into a bed, so there’s ample sleeping space.
