The WAVE Eco Cabin looks great against a backdrop of blue skies and palm trees, and given that its Scottish maker, Echo Living, recently shipped another of their projects all the way to Crete, it’s entirely possible there will be a WAVE on a tropical beach someday. This unit, though, was on display at Grand Designs Live in London, and the well-insulated cabin with central woodstove is actually quite suitable for colder climates as well.
It gets its name from the wraparound timber slats which curve from the front deck around the back of the structure and over again into a brise soleil. It’s off-grid, with a gas stove and solar panels that provide 12-volt power for the lights and refrigerator. The 135-foot display model would do nicely for a weekend beach hut, and Echo also has a 270-square foot design that adds a separate bedroom and bathroom and bathroom to the ends of the building.
