Colorado company SteelGenix specializes in steel-frame prefabs of all kinds – commercial, traditional residential, and now tiny houses as well. Their first model is the 192-square-foot Steelhaus (and the first Steelhaus is now at the WeeCasa tiny house hotel in Lyons, CO, if you’d like a closer look). It has an all-glass center section facing a kitchen installation containing a small stovetop and sink, a big fridge/freezer, and plenty of cabinets. To the right there’s a living room nook with a wraparound couch terminating in an electric fireplace and a 55-inch TV. The bathroom’s to the left, and symmetrical sleeping lofts crown each end. Floor heating and polyurethane modified isocyanurate foam wall and roof panels that SteelGenix claims have nearly twice the thermal efficiency of standard SIPs should keep it quite toasty through a Rocky Mountain winter.
