3 Shipping Containers Form A Private Offgrid Home In Tahoe

With altitudes well over a mile high, the Tahoe National Forest boasts some truly spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most people have to settle for a brief glimpse, but one couple fortunate enough to own a private enclave in the middle of the National Forest has put up a tiny off-grid shipping container cabin they can enjoy whenever they like. Conventional construction would have been quite challenging in such a remote location, so the containers were fitted out offsite and trucked in to be placed on a concrete foundation. The cozy double-decker living space was topped with a sharply peaked sheet metal roof to shed the region’s abundant snow, and an adjacent third container provides extra storage space.
