While one of the guiding principles of the tiny house movement is the idea of being debt-free, and building a home for the lowest price possible, we still see plenty of builds that cost upwards of $100k. Not exactly chump change. If you want to dream big, and you have deep enough pockets, you couldn’t do much better than something like this – a tiny beach house known as La Maison au Bord de l’Eau .
Originally built in 1934 by Charlotte Perriand, a renowned architect out of Paris, the home was designed to showcase an affordable vacation living option. It just so happens that the Italian company Louis Vuitton launched a new clothing line and thought the home would make a perfect installation with their debut at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach for the 2013 Design Miami Show.
You have to imagine the home has increased in value because of this new association and location, but regardless it shows off a beautiful layout with a thoughtful attention to design based around a small living space. Imagine building something like this yourself, in some warm temperate area, on a nice spread of land. It’s certainly something to admire and draw inspiration from!
